About Us

    Our Story

George Rogers Clark High School is a thriving high school located in the heart of the Central Kentucky Bluegrass. As the only public high school in Clark County, Kentucky, GRCHS has an annual enrollment in grades 9-12 of between 1,600 and 1,700 students.

The school opened in the fall of 1963 at 620 Boone Avenue with the consolidation of Clark County High School and Winchester High School. In 2013, the school moved to its current location on Boonesboro Road. Our facility includes a beautiful enclosed courtyard, a state-of-the-art area technology center, a 600-seat auditorium, and a sprawling media center. The campus includes one of Kentucky's premiere high school athletic complexes.

GRCHS places priority emphasis on college and career readiness, and providing more opportunities for students each year in the academic, arts and vocational realms. Blended-learning classrooms and project-based learning are a sampling of the 21st century strategies used to enhance education. GRC is a school of innovation that offers an extensive advanced placement and dual credit program, a school-to-work program, a Fine Arts Cohort, and a diverse platform of career-oriented and high-interest course offerings.
